Democrats Lead Early Voting Turnout in Louisiana and New York

Democratic voters are outnumbering Republicans in early voting data from Louisiana and New York as the 2026 election cycle progresses.

Early voting data from Louisiana and New York indicate that Democratic voters are turning out in higher numbers than Republicans. In Louisiana, more than 363,000 people cast ballots during the first five days of early voting, with Democrats holding a lead of over 13,000. This trend is expected to influence competitive Congressional races in districts 5 and 6 as voting concludes on Tuesday.

In New York, statewide early voting exceeded 485,200 ballots by Monday morning, surpassing turnout figures from the 2022 gubernatorial race. Long Island saw significant activity over the first weekend, with more than 88,000 voters casting ballots. In Nassau County, Democrats accounted for 44% of early voters compared to 36% for Republicans, while in Suffolk County, Democrats represented 47% and Republicans 29%.

These figures come as Democrats attempt to maintain momentum against Republican challengers, including Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, who is seeking to unseat Governor Kathy Hochul.
