RSF Launches Coordinated Drone Attacks Across Sudan

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched a large-scale coordinated drone attack on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, targeting the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, and several army-controlled cities in the north and Kordofan region. The strikes hit Khartoum, Atbara, El-Damer, and El-Obeid. In Khartoum North, drones struck a mosque and an electricity transformer.

The Sudanese military responded by engaging the drones with anti-aircraft missiles, particularly near the Wadi Seidna base in Omdurman. No immediate casualties were reported following the strikes.

These attacks follow a period of relative calm in Khartoum and serve as a retaliatory response after the Sudanese army pushed RSF forces off a key highway leading to the capital last month. The broader conflict between the military, led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the RSF, commanded by Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, has persisted since April 2023, resulting in an estimated 200,000 deaths and a severe humanitarian crisis.
