President Asif Ali Zardari Visits Kyrgyzstan After 21 Years
President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Kyrgyzstan for an official visit to strengthen bilateral trade and regional connectivity with President Sadyr Zhaparov.
President Asif Ali Zardari arrived at Issyk-Kul International Airport on July 6, 2026, for an official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic. This trip marks the first visit by a Pakistani head of state to the country since 1995, ending a 21-year gap in such diplomatic engagements. Upon arrival, President Zardari was received by President Sadyr Zhaparov with a guard of honor.
Following his arrival, President Zardari visited the Rukh Ordo Cultural Centre in Cholpon-Ata. During the visit, he viewed traditional cultural performances and discussed the preservation of heritage with President Zhaparov. The two leaders are scheduled to conduct one-on-one and delegation-level talks to expand cooperation across trade, investment, energy, mining, agriculture, education, healthcare, tourism, and the digital economy.
The visit builds on a previous trip by President Zhaparov to Pakistan in December 2025. During that meeting, both nations committed to increasing bilateral trade to $200 million by 2027-28. The leaders also aim to improve regional connectivity through the Quadrilateral Traffic in Transit Agreement and the CASA-1000 project.
