Democratic Governors Association Gives $1 Million to David Jolly
The Democratic Governors Association provided $1 million to David Jolly for his Florida gubernatorial campaign against Republican Representative Byron Donalds.
The Democratic Governors Association provided $1 million to support David Jolly, the Democratic nominee for governor of Florida, in his race against Republican Representative Byron Donalds. This funding follows a Miami fundraiser led by former President Bill Clinton that raised more than $3 million for the campaign.
Jolly, a former Republican congressman, is centering his platform on affordability and opposing the expansion of data centers. Despite these efforts, Donalds maintains a substantial financial advantage, having raised over $148 million compared to Jolly's $22 million.
National Democrats are attempting to reposition Florida as a swing state, citing local Democratic victories and economic concerns affecting Republican approval ratings. The Cook Political Report recently adjusted the race's status from likely Republican to lean Republican. In a related effort to gain ground in the state, the Democratic Attorneys General Association invested $5 million to support José Javier Rodríguez in the race for Florida Attorney General.
