Marks & Spencer to Close Walton-on-the-Naze Store

Marks & Spencer will close its Walton-on-the-Naze store on September 26, putting 50 jobs at risk as operations shift to Clacton Brook Retail Park.

Marks & Spencer will close its store on Arthur Ransome Way in Walton-on-the-Naze, Essex, on September 26, 2026. The outlet opened in 2018, but the company is now shifting its focus to its location in Clacton Brook Retail Park.

The closure puts 50 jobs at risk of redundancy. Company leadership confirmed the decision in May, despite a petition signed by thousands of local residents attempting to keep the shop open. The company stated it is working to redeploy as many colleagues to nearby stores as possible.

Regional Manager Will Holden thanked customers for shopping at the store over the years and noted that the company will continue to serve them at the nearby Clacton Brook Park food hall.
