Arizona State Land Department Terminates AgTech Leases in Yuma County

The Arizona State Land Department terminated five land leases held by AgTech in Yuma County after an inspection found the company was not in compliance with its lease agreements.

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes stated that an investigation conducted by her office contributed to the cancellation of the leases. The move follows a review of the company's adherence to the terms of its agreements with the state.

Separately, local resident Phil Clark called for Mayes to launch an investigation into the Yuma County Hospital District #1. Clark alleged in a letter to the Yuma Sun that the district's contract with a private hospital tenant may violate the state Constitution's prohibition on the gift and loan of credit, citing bond indebtedness that exceeds $300 million.
