Advocacy Groups Issue Voter Guidance for 2026 Midterms

As the 2026 midterm elections approach, the Election Protection coalition and various legal experts are issuing guidance to help voters navigate potential challenges at polling places. Recommendations include verifying registration status early, preparing required identity documents, and utilizing conditional ballots or same-day registration where available. Voters are specifically advised to remain in line if polls close while they are waiting and to request provisional ballots if their eligibility is questioned.

To address systemic blocks and voter intimidation, the coalition has established nonpartisan hotlines available in English, Spanish, Arabic, and various Asian languages. These services are supported by the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Education Fund, the Arab American Institute, and the Asian And Pacific Islander American Vote.
