NXP Semiconductors Shares Drop Despite Record Automotive Revenue
NXP Semiconductors reported third-quarter revenue of $3.79 billion and record automotive sales, but shares fell 9% due to wide fourth-quarter earnings guidance.
NXP Semiconductors reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of $3.79 billion on October 27, marking a 19% year-on-year increase that surpassed analyst forecasts. The company achieved record automotive revenue of $2.07 billion and reported non-GAAP earnings per share of $4.20, beating consensus estimates.
Following these results, the company increased its share buyback authorization by $5 billion, bringing total capacity to $6.3 billion. Management also announced a first design win for its S32K5 chip in humanoid robotics, a move intended to diversify revenue streams away from the cyclical automotive market.
Despite the strong quarterly performance, shares fell approximately 9% in after-hours trading. Investors reacted negatively to the company's fourth-quarter guidance, which projected revenue between $3.75 billion and $3.95 billion and non-GAAP earnings per share between $4.14 and $4.58. The wide range of the earnings forecast signaled a lack of visibility into year-end demand, triggering the sell-off.
