Ohio Attorney General Seeks Lead Role in Roblox Lawsuit

Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson filed a motion to serve as lead plaintiff in a securities class-action lawsuit against Roblox Corp. and executives David Baszucki, Naveen Chopra, and Michael Guthrie. The suit, pending in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, alleges the company misled investors by marketing its platform as a safe, family-friendly environment while failing to implement basic protections against sexual content and online predators.

Wilson contends the deception was exposed in April 2026 when regulatory pressure forced Roblox to implement mandatory age verification and communication limits. These changes caused user growth to plummet, leading the company to lower its annual revenue projection by $1 billion. The resulting 18% stock drop wiped out $6 billion in market value, with the stock price falling from a 52-week high of $142 to $37.05 as of August 11, 2026.

The lawsuit seeks to recover $21.5 million in losses suffered by the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System and the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio between October 2024 and April 2026. Roblox has disputed the claims, stating that safety is the foundation of the platform.
