Eni and NOC Complete Bouri Gas Project in Libya

Eni and Libya's National Oil Corporation completed the Bouri Gas Utilization Project to reduce flaring and increase gas supplies for domestic power and European exports.

Eni and Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) have completed the Bouri Gas Utilization Project in Libya's western offshore area. Executed through the Mellitah Oil & Gas joint venture, the project installed a new Gas Recovery Module and tie-in infrastructure to capture and process associated gas that was previously flared.

The National Oil Corporation is currently conducting final commissioning and targets a full start-up by the end of October 2026. Once operational, the project will provide approximately 700 million standard cubic metres of additional gas annually for Libya's domestic power generation sector. It will also increase the volume of gas available for export to Europe via the GreenStream pipeline.

Beyond production increases, the initiative is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by roughly 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 per year. This effort is part of a broader strategy to optimize the Libyan energy sector, which includes the A&E Structures Project designed to bring further offshore gas resources into production.
