Pakistan Army Acquires Ukraine Drone Technology via US Firm
The Pakistan Army signed an agreement with US-based Powerus to acquire Ukraine drone technology, signaling a revival of defense cooperation between Islamabad and Washington.
The Pakistan Army signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the United States firm Powerus on September 16, granting Pakistan access to Ukraine drone technology. Field Marshal Asim Munir represented Pakistan in the agreement, which includes an initial order for unmanned aerial vehicles.
This deal marks a revival of defense cooperation between the United States and Pakistan. Washington had previously ceased the supply of weapons to Islamabad, with the exception of modernization packages for F-16 fighter jets.
Regional security experts have expressed concern over the agreement, citing Pakistan's history of providing refuge to designated terror groups, including Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Resistance Front, to advance geopolitical interests. In a separate development, reports indicate Pakistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding earlier this year with SC Financial Technologies, an affiliate of World Liberty Financial, the crypto business of the Trump family.
