Malaysia Raises E&E Export Forecast to 900 Billion Ringgit

Wong Siew Hai, President of the Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association, raised the 2026 forecast for Malaysia's electrical and electronics (E&E) exports to over 900 billion ringgit, or approximately 223 billion dollars. This update increases a previous second-quarter projection of 800 billion ringgit.

The growth stems from the global artificial-intelligence boom and a strategic shift in supply chains as companies reduce their reliance on China. Tech exports grew 44% during the first seven months of 2026, reaching roughly 564 billion ringgit and accounting for 48% of the nation's total shipments.

Semiconductors make up nearly three-quarters of these exports. Increased investment has expanded the country's capacity in assembly, testing, packaging, and advanced semiconductor supply chain segments.
