Ford Motor Reports 10.2 Percent July U.S. Sales Drop
Ford Motor Company reported a July sales decline resulting from a strategic decision to phase out specific models and reduce rental fleet volume.
Ford Motor Company reported a 10.2% decline in U.S. vehicle sales for July 2026, which brought its year-to-date sales decrease to 9.7%. Despite the drop, the company described the month as a success, attributing the figures to a deliberate strategy to sunset specific models such as the Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair.
As part of this transition, the company reduced low-margin rental fleet volume by 96% to prepare for an influx of new product introductions planned by the end of the decade. Ford focused on retail sales for its F-Series pickup trucks while continuing to recover from aluminum supplier fires that took place last year.
Company officials stated that without these intentional reductions, sales would have fallen by less than 1%. This would have outperformed the estimated 2% industry-wide decline for the month of July.
