Governor Inuwa Yahaya Commissions Major Gombe Infrastructure Projects

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum commissioned over 86 kilometers of roads and bridges in Kwami Local Government Area.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State and Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State commissioned over 86 kilometers of roads and bridges in the Kwami Local Government Area on Sunday. The projects were delivered under the Network-1100 initiative, which aims to construct 1,100 kilometers of roads across Gombe's 11 Local Government Areas. Governor Yahaya noted that over 1,000 kilometers have already been completed as his administration enters its final tenure phase.

Specific road projects included the 41-kilometer Shango-Sarkin Yaki-Abuja/Bula-Bomala-Dinawa-Alagarno-Kalajanga-Tappi Road, the 30-kilometer Kwanan Gerkwami-Tsangayari-Gerkwami-Daniya-Daban Fulani Road, and the 15-kilometer Kurba-Titi-Tsangayari road, along with the Titi-Kurba Bridge. Beyond transportation, the governors commissioned the Kwami West Local Council Development Area Secretariat in Bojude and District Head Palaces in Bojude and Daban Fulani.

Governor Yahaya stated that the creation of 13 Local Council Development Areas is a strategy to bring governance closer to citizens and ensure equitable development. Governor Zulum described the scale of development as unprecedented for Gombe State, arguing that connecting cities to rural communities will expand farming opportunities and enhance local livelihoods. He further noted that rural infrastructure and strong traditional institutions are essential for sustainable peace and development in the North-East region.
