Samsung Debuts Galaxy Tab S12 Tablets With AI Upgrades
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and S12 Plus tablets featuring MediaTek processors and increased pricing ahead of an October 7 U.S. release.
Samsung debuted the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12 Plus tablets on September 30, 2026, positioning the series as laptop replacements. The new lineup removes the previous base 11-inch model, replacing it with the 12.6-inch S12 Plus. Both devices feature Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays with 1,600 nits peak brightness and are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor.
Samsung claims the new processor improves NPU processing by 51% to 61% for AI tasks. The S12 Ultra retains a 14.6-inch screen and 5.1mm thickness, while the S12 Plus is slimmer than its predecessor at 5.3mm. Both models include an S Pen and support seven years of security updates.
Pricing has increased for the new generation, with the S12 Ultra starting at $1,399 and the S12 Plus at $1,199. To support the laptop-replacement strategy, Samsung is offering optional keyboard accessories and a six-month trial of Google AI Pro. The tablets are scheduled for release in the United States on October 7.
