Oregon Expands Ballot Tracking Tool to All Counties
Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read expanded the BallotTrax digital tracking tool statewide and secured funding for 20 new ballot drop boxes.
The Oregon Secretary of State’s Office expanded the BallotTrax digital tracking tool to all counties using $150,000 in new state funding. The service provides voters with text, email, or phone updates when ballots are mailed, received by county offices, and accepted for counting. Previously, the tool was limited to Clackamas, Marion, Multnomah, Yamhill, and Washington counties.
To further support the November 3 election, the Oregon State Legislature approved more than $1 million to install 20 new drop boxes and provide additional support to county election offices.
Secretary of State Tobias Read urged voters to utilize drop boxes rather than the mail due to changes in Postal Service procedures that could impact postmarking on Election Day. Officials recommend that voters mail their ballots by October 27 or use a drop box to ensure their votes are counted.
