Micron Technology Faces Volatility Ahead of September Earnings
Micron Technology prepares for its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings report amid surging AI memory demand and strong financial results from key customers Nvidia and AMD.
Analysts expect stock volatility for Micron Technology throughout September as the company approaches its fiscal 2026 fourth-quarter earnings report on September 30. The semiconductor manufacturer is seeing increased demand for its high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips, which are critical components in AI data center infrastructure.
This growth is supported by the financial performance of Micron's primary customers. Nvidia reported a 106% year-over-year revenue increase for its second quarter of fiscal 2027, while Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) posted a 50% year-over-year jump in its second-quarter revenue. Both companies utilize Micron memory in their respective NVL72 and Helios server systems.
Financial projections for Micron's fiscal fourth quarter suggest a significant surge, with revenue potentially increasing 348% year-over-year to $50.8 billion. Earnings per share are projected to rise more than 10x to $31.28. Despite these forecasts, Micron maintains a price-to-earnings ratio of 21, a valuation analysts consider significantly lower than its industry peers, which may trigger a stock rally.
