United Nations Coordinates Global Humanitarian and Diplomatic Missions

United Nations officials are managing emergency aid in Venezuela, ceasefire negotiations in Lebanon and Israel, and conflict prevention efforts in Chad regarding the Sudanese crisis.

The United Nations is currently managing a series of concurrent humanitarian and diplomatic operations across multiple conflict and disaster zones. Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher is visiting Venezuela to assess needs and coordinate aid following devastating earthquakes that struck nearly two weeks ago, with the World Food Programme providing food assistance to thousands of survivors.

Diplomatic efforts are concentrated in the Middle East and Africa. Jean Arnault is meeting with senior officials in Israel and Lebanon to advocate for the implementation of Security Council resolution 1701 and ensure the stability of the June 19 ceasefire. Simultaneously, Pekka Haavisto is meeting with authorities in Chad to address the regional implications of the conflict in Sudan and prevent further escalation.

Other UN operations include monitoring displacement and funding shortfalls in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and the Central African Republic, where clashes in Am-Dafock have forced residents to flee.
