Canada Allocates $14.1 Million to Nova Scotia Businesses Amid Tariffs

The Government of Canada is allocating $14.1 million in grants to 27 businesses and organizations in Nova Scotia to mitigate the economic impact of U.S. tariffs. Justice Minister Sean Fraser, acting as the minister for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, announced the funding at Ace Machining Ltd., a company receiving over $400,000 to purchase an automated computer numerical control milling station to increase productivity.

This funding is part of the $1.5-billion Regional Tariff Response Initiative, which is contained within a larger $7.5-billion support package for companies affected by U.S. trade policy. These measures follow the U.S. imposition of 50 per cent tariffs on approximately $28 billion of Canadian goods last month.

Sean Fraser stated that these are among the first investments being delivered, with more expected across Atlantic Canada. Canada is scheduled to implement reciprocal tariffs on American products next week.
