Premier Energies and Vikram Solar Expand Indian Green Energy Capacity
Premier Energies commissioned a 5.6 GW solar plant in Telangana while Vikram Solar signed a ₹15,037 crore battery storage deal in Tamil Nadu.
Two major solar energy firms expanded their manufacturing footprint in India on July 9, 2026, focusing on module production and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
Premier Energies commissioned a 5.6 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Seetharampur, Telangana. The project is part of a larger Rs 12,500 crore capital expenditure plan, bringing the company's total module capacity to 11.1 GW. The firm also broke ground on a 6 GWh BESS facility and an aluminium frames plant, while committing an additional Rs 6,000 crore for ingot and wafer capacities to achieve full vertical integration. For the quarter ending June 30, 2026, the company reported orders totaling Rs 3,011 crore.
Simultaneously, Vikram Solar signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Tamil Nadu to build a BESS manufacturing plant at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Gangaikondan. The ₹15,037 crore investment aims to help Vikram Solar reach 15 gigawatt-hours of BESS capacity by FY30 and is expected to create 2,670 jobs. The agreement was formalized at the Secretariat in the presence of Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay.
