West Lincoln Mayor and Councillors Acclaimed for Next Term

Municipal elections across Ontario are scheduled for October 26, with recent candidate certifications in West Niagara establishing several key races. In West Lincoln, Cheryl Ganann and Ward 3 councillors Greg Maychak and William Reilly were acclaimed, meaning they will return to office without facing opposition. Ganann identified asset management, infrastructure, and regional governance restructuring as primary challenges for the next term.

Ganann noted she had already spent money expecting to run a campaign, while William Reilly expressed surprise at the acclamation, stating he did not believe any member from Ward 3 had ever been acclaimed in the community before. Reilly also indicated that discussions regarding amalgamation are not yet finished. Greg Maychak thanked Ward 3 residents for their continued faith in his role as councillor.

Other regional races remain competitive. In Grimsby, incumbent Jeff Jordan faces three challengers in a four-way mayoral race. In the town of Lincoln, candidates Adam Russell, Greg Reimer, and Cheryl Keddy-Scott are competing for the mayoralty following the retirement of Sandra Easton. Lincoln has also redrawn its electoral map, reducing the number of wards from four to three.
