Vice President Shettima to Open All Nigeria Editors Conference

Kashim Shettima, the Vice President of Nigeria, will open the 22nd All Nigeria Editors Conference on September 24, 2026, at the International Conference Centre in Enugu. Organized by the Nigerian Guild of Editors, the two-day event will bring together more than 500 editors, government officials, and academics.

The conference centers on the theme "The Ballot, the Media and the Task of Keeping Democracy Alive." Participants will focus on press freedom, national development, and the detection of AI-driven disinformation during elections. The program includes sessions on reporting terrorism, electoral justice, and the wellbeing of journalists.

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah will address the gathering, while former Catholic Archbishop of Abuja John Cardinal Onaiyekan is scheduled to deliver the keynote address. The event will conclude with an executive session allowing editors to engage directly with agency heads and political leaders regarding national issues.
