Bangladesh Energy Commission Raises August LPG Retail Prices

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission increased the retail price of liquefied petroleum gas for August 2026, effective from 6:00 p.m. on August 2. The cost of a standard 12kg cylinder rose by Tk 70, moving from Tk 1,528 in July to Tk 1,598, a 4.6 percent increase. Other adjustments included a 15kg cylinder at Tk 1,997, a 5.5kg cylinder at Tk 732, and autogas at Tk 73.67 per litre.

Commission officials based the price revision on the Saudi Aramco Contract Price, shipping costs, import expenses, and current exchange rates. Parallel to these price hikes, the National Board of Revenue shifted the Value Added Tax structure by withdrawing VAT at the production stage and imposing it at the import stage.

BERC leadership warned LPG operators and retailers that the government will take legal action against any parties charging more than the approved retail prices.
