Samsung Raises Galaxy S25 Prices in India Over Chip Costs
Samsung Electronics increased prices for the Galaxy S25 in India due to rising memory chip costs and expects further hikes for foldable devices.
Samsung Electronics increased prices for the Galaxy S25 in India on August 19, 2026, citing a global memory chip shortage. The 12GB+256GB model rose by INR 4,000 to INR 84,999, while the 12GB+512GB model increased by INR 12,000 to INR 104,999.
Retailers and analysts indicate the company will also raise prices for its latest foldable lineup, including the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8. To offset these costs for consumers, Samsung introduced long-tenure zero-cost EMI options for its foldable devices.
JB Park, Samsung's President and CEO for Southwest Asia, stated that the company had been absorbing a "humongous" cost burden throughout 2026 to protect consumers before the current shortage forced these adjustments. Industry analysts from Smart Analytics Global warn that rising component costs could lead to a decline in annual smartphone shipments in India during the third and fourth quarters of 2026.
