OnePlus Exits North American and European Smartphone Markets

OnePlus is ceasing all new product rollouts in North America and Europe while transitioning its global software to Oppo's ColorOS.

The smartphone manufacturer OnePlus has officially ceased all new product rollouts in North America and Europe as part of a broader strategic restructuring by its parent company, Oppo. The decision follows months of instability and financial strain caused by surging component costs, a global memory chip shortage, and geopolitical pressures in the U.S. The company will shut down its North American community website and app on August 16, 2026.

As part of the withdrawal, OnePlus is retiring its OxygenOS user interface. Starting with Android 17, eligible devices globally will transition to Oppo's ColorOS to streamline research and development. While Oppo will absorb the premium footprint of OnePlus in Europe and assume responsibility for warranty agreements there, it has declined to enter the North American market to replace the brand.

OnePlus remains active in China and India, focusing on budget-friendly and mid-range devices. Although reports from Bloomberg suggested a phased withdrawal from India by 2027, OnePlus leadership has explicitly denied these claims, stating that Indian operations continue as normal. Simultaneously, Oppo subsidiary Realme is stopping new product launches in China to concentrate on overseas markets, including the Nordic region.

Existing customers in exiting regions will continue to receive promised software updates, security patches, and after-sales support through the end of their devices' support lifecycles.
