Aliyev Says South Caucasus Is Becoming Zone of Peace

President Ilham Aliyev announced that Azerbaijan and Armenia are expanding trade and transport links following a peace agreement that ended a 30-year conflict.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev declared that the South Caucasus region is transforming into a zone of peace. Speaking at the SCO Plus format meeting in Bishkek, Aliyev stated that the initialing of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia over a year ago put an end to a 30-year conflict.

Aliyev detailed current economic cooperation between the two nations, noting that Azerbaijan is already supplying petroleum products to Armenia and facilitating transit for third-country cargo. He stated that both countries are collaborating to increase mutual trade volumes, expand the range of traded goods, and establish new overland transport links.
