Quickmart Plans to List 50 Percent of Shares on NSE

Quickmart announced plans to list 2 billion ordinary shares on the Nairobi Securities Exchange to allow Kenyan investors to own a stake in the retailer.

Retailer Quickmart announced plans to list on the Main Investment Market Segment of the Nairobi Securities Exchange, pending regulatory approvals. The offering involves the sale of 2 billion existing ordinary shares, which represent 50 percent of the company's issued share capital. These shares are being offered by the current owner, Sokoni Retail Kenya Limited.

Quickmart will not issue new shares or receive proceeds from the listing, as the company intends to fund its expansion using internally generated cash flows. The retailer currently operates 72 stores across 16 counties and reported 2025 revenue of Sh50.4 billion with an adjusted profit after tax of Sh1.7 billion. The company aims to expand to more than 100 stores in the medium term.

Following the listing, Quickmart intends to target a dividend payout ratio of at least 80 percent of its annual profit after tax. Group CEO Peter Kang’iri stated that the listing will give Kenyans the opportunity to own a share of a business they already shop in while raising the company's profile with partners and suppliers.
