Ukrainian Humanitarian Mission Enters Oleshky Under Localized Ceasefire
Dmytro Lubinets leads a humanitarian delegation to occupied Oleshky following a localized ceasefire brokered by Melania Trump to deliver aid and evacuate residents.
A Ukrainian humanitarian delegation led by Dmytro Lubinets departed on October 29 for the Russian-occupied city of Oleshky. The mission aims to deliver food and medical supplies to approximately 2,000 trapped residents and facilitate their safe departure. The operation follows a localized six-day ceasefire that took effect on Tuesday, which has held for three days in Oleshky and nearby Kherson.
The truce was brokered with assistance from U.S. First Lady Melania Trump and supported by Pope Leo XIV. It was formalized on October 23 through an agreement signed by Lubinets and Russian Ombudsperson Yana Lantratova. The delegation, accompanied by Ukrainian and American journalists from Newsmax, traveled through Belarus and planned stops in Anapa and Simferopol. Humanitarian cargo is scheduled for delivery on October 30, pending the completion of road demining by Russian engineers.
While the localized truce holds, broader conflict persists. Russian strikes in Dnipro, Chernihiv, and Kremenchuk killed at least 19 people on Thursday. Simultaneously, diplomatic shifts have occurred as U.S. President Donald Trump waived sanctions on Russia, and Russian President Vladimir Putin praised Elon Musk as a genius amid reports that SpaceX has limited Starshield services for Ukraine.
