Liberian Registry and China MSA Conduct Joint Vessel Inspections

The Liberian International Ship & Corporate Registry, the Liberia Maritime Authority, and the Maritime Safety Administration of the People's Republic of China conducted a series of technical engagements to enhance maritime safety cooperation. The initiative included technical meetings and joint vessel inspections aimed at exchanging perspectives on vessel oversight and the implementation of international shipping requirements.

This collaboration builds upon an existing Memorandum of Understanding on Maritime Cooperation between Liberia and China. The Liberian Registry, which oversees 18 percent of the world's ocean-going fleet, intends to use these direct relationships to better understand inspection trends and resolve compliance issues before they escalate for operators.

Alfonso Castillero, CEO of the Liberian International Ship & Corporate Registry, stated that effective engagement with Port State authorities is essential for supporting shipowners and improving vessel performance. He emphasized that proactive, technical communication between Flag and Port States allows both parties to share perspectives and contribute to safer shipping.
