WPP to Cut 1,000 More Jobs in AI Restructuring

WPP plans to cut 1,000 additional jobs by 2026 as it consolidates agencies and sells assets to adapt to artificial intelligence.

Advertising group WPP plc plans to cut up to 1,000 additional jobs by the end of 2026 as part of a restructuring program to simplify operations and integrate artificial intelligence. This latest reduction follows approximately 11,000 job losses since the start of 2025, bringing the company's headcount to 97,388 as of June 30, 2026.

Under the leadership of CEO Cindy Rose, the company is consolidating its creative agencies—Ogilvy, VML, and AKQA—into a single entity called WPP Creative. To improve margins, the group is offloading non-core businesses with a forecast of at least £200 million in asset sales and reducing its London office footprint from three buildings to two.

These measures reflect a broader industry contraction driven by AI-powered content generation. Competitors have implemented similar reductions, including Omnicom Group, which cut 4,000 jobs following its merger with The Interpublic Group of Companies, and Dentsu Inc., which announced cuts of about 3,400 jobs from its international operations.
