YSRCP Accuses Naidu of Rewriting Veligonda Project History

The YSR Congress Party challenged Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to a debate over credit for the Poola Subbaiah Veligonda Project.

Leaders of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of rewriting history by claiming credit for the Poola Subbaiah Veligonda Project. During a press conference in Markapuram, YSRCP Campaign Wing State President Kakumanu Rajasekhar and other legislators argued that while Naidu laid the foundation stone in 1996, the majority of the work was performed by other administrations.

The YSRCP asserts that 82.2 percent of the 37.587 km of tunnel excavation was completed under former Chief Ministers Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. This contrasts with the 17.8 percent they claim was completed during Naidu's 2014–19 term. The party specifically noted that the final 10.568 km of tunnel excavation occurred during the tenure of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

challenging the Chief Minister to an open debate based on official expenditure and excavation records, the YSRCP demanded the resettlement of displaced families and the completion of the Teegaleru canal before any official inaugurations take place.
