Odisha Targets 11 GW Renewable Energy Capacity by 2030

The Government of Odisha is transitioning from conventional power generation to become a primary hub for clean energy and green manufacturing. During events in Bhubaneswar and New Delhi, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo announced the state is pursuing nearly 11 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, spanning solar, wind, hydro, storage, and hybrid systems. This transition is supported by ₹67,000 crore in investment proposals.

Odisha plans to leverage its coastline, ports, and mineral resources to establish a Green Hydrogen hub in South-East Asia, specifically to decarbonize heavy industries like steel and aluminium. To support this integration, the state is modernizing its power grid using digital substations and AI-enabled asset management. The state is also promoting inclusive growth through the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.

Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain is focusing on the industrial ecosystem by developing electrical equipment manufacturing clusters and advanced testing laboratories. The state has invited the Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers’ Association to partner in strengthening the vendor base and accelerating technology adoption. Vikram Gandotra, President of the association, expressed confidence that industry players will invest in the region to leverage the state's evolving policy framework.
