Airbus Flies A350F Freighter for First Time in France
Airbus conducted the maiden flight of its A350F freighter in Toulouse, targeting a 2027 entry into service to compete with Boeing's 777 series.
Airbus SE conducted the maiden flight of its A350F freighter on Tuesday in Toulouse, France. The aircraft now begins nine months of certification trials before its scheduled entry into service in 2027.
Designed to compete with the Boeing 777 series, the A350F targets the dedicated air freight market, which is currently driven by rising demand for semiconductors, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and e-commerce. The project faced delays from an original 2025 launch target due to supply chain disruptions and the development of the cargo door, which the company describes as the world's largest of its type.
Airbus has secured 115 orders for the A350F, surpassing the 81 orders placed for the Boeing 777-8F.
