North Carolina Sets November 3 General Election Date

North Carolina will hold a statewide general election on November 3, 2026, featuring U.S. House races and three constitutional amendments.

The North Carolina State Board of Elections has scheduled the statewide general election for Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Polls will operate from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with a guarantee that any voter in line by the closing time will be allowed to cast their ballot.

The election ballot includes contests for U.S. House seats, local judges, district attorneys, and various county offices. Voters will also decide on three constitutional amendments concerning property-tax limits, the state income-tax cap, and voter photo ID requirements. All voters casting ballots in person must present an acceptable photo ID.

The registration deadline is Friday, October 9, at 5 p.m., with options to register online, in person, or via paper application. Individuals who miss this deadline can still register and vote during the early voting window, which runs from Thursday, October 15, through Saturday, October 31. For those using mail-in absentee ballots, requests must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, and completed ballots must be returned by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day.
