Saudi Crown Prince and Oman Sultan Meet to Bolster Security

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq met in Jeddah on Tuesday to strengthen bilateral relations and coordinate regional security and stability. The meeting took place as Oman, Qatar, and Pakistan work to ease regional tensions and restart negotiations between Iran and the United States. These diplomatic efforts follow a stalled June memorandum of understanding intended to end a conflict that began in February after U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran led to retaliatory strikes against Gulf countries hosting U.S. military assets.

The visit also focused on deep historical and social ties, institutionalized through the Saudi-Omani Coordination Council. This framework aligns Saudi Vision 2030 with Oman Vision 2040, focusing on clean energy, green hydrogen, electrical interconnection, and the Gulf railway link. Economic integration has accelerated since the 2021 opening of the Empty Quarter border crossing, with bilateral trade reaching approximately OMR 2.4754 billion in 2025 and OMR 1.0862 billion in the first half of 2026.

To further this economic partnership, the Saudi Public Investment Fund has opened an office in Oman to identify new investment opportunities. Saudi Ambassador Ibrahim bin Saad bin Bishan stated that the visit reaffirms the strategic coordination between the two nations.
