Russia Creates Task Force After Sea of Azov Drone Attacks

The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation established a task force to develop alternative cargo routes and shift freight to different transport modes. This decision follows a series of drone attacks on maritime vessels in the Sea of Azov. In coordination with the defense ministry, Russia is implementing additional safety measures to protect ships throughout the Azov-Black Sea basin.

These logistical shifts occur amid an escalation of mutual attacks between Russia and Ukraine targeting commercial ships and agricultural export facilities. Russia's main grain lobby group warned that continued Ukrainian drone attacks could halt Black Sea grain exports, potentially triggering hunger in Africa and the Middle East.

Conversely, the Ukrainian Agricultural Confederation stated that Russian strikes near Odesa are restricting Ukrainian exports during the critical harvest period. The union claims these disruptions are threatening global food supplies and contributing to rising global wheat prices.
