In a statement released Sunday via X, Obi described the incident as a distressing indication of worsening insecurity in Nigeria.
Obi criticized the government for normalizing kidnappings and argued that the state must implement proactive measures to protect citizens rather than reacting after lives have been disrupted. He stated that families are increasingly burdened by the fear that loved ones could fall victim to such crimes.
The leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress demanded the immediate and safe rescue of the abducted youths and called for the arrest of those responsible for the attack.
