Iran and EU Discuss Regional Stability and Vessel Attack
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas held talks to reduce regional tensions following a reported Ukrainian attack on an Iranian ship.
Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian Foreign Minister, and European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas held a phone call on Tuesday to discuss international developments and methods for preserving regional security. The conversation focused on reducing tensions and maintaining stability across the region.
These talks followed a prior discussion on Saturday. During that earlier call, the officials addressed volatility in the Strait of Hormuz and a specific incident in the Caspian Sea. The Iranian government characterized that incident as an attack by Ukraine on an Iranian commercial vessel.
