Tejashwi Yadav Detained During Bihar Paper Leak Protest

Tejashwi Yadav was detained by police in Patna while leading a Rashtriya Janata Dal march against recurring examination paper leaks and youth unemployment in Bihar.

Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav was detained by police in Patna on Wednesday during a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) protest march from JP Golambar toward Raj Bhavan and Lok Bhavan. The demonstration targeted the Bihar government's failure to address high unemployment and a pattern of competitive examination paper leaks.

A central grievance of the march was a July 25 incident in Siwan, where police allegedly used AK-47 rifles against students protesting NEET paper leaks. While the government suspended one constable and transferred the Siwan Superintendent of Police, Yadav and other RJD leaders argued that senior officials remain unpunished. RJD MLA Bhai Virendra alleged that AKs were used against students fighting for their rights.

Police used water cannons to disperse the crowd, an action Yadav attributed to orders from Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. During the mobilization, RJD leaders including Manoj Jha and Alok Kumar Mehta sought to submit a memorandum to the Governor, describing the office as the constitutional custodian of the state. Yadav further criticized the BJP-led administration for failing to deliver on a promise of one crore jobs and for the failure of the state's liquor prohibition laws.
