JPMorgan Chase Launches $1.5 Trillion National Security Initiative
JPMorgan Chase established a 10-year, $1.5 trillion fund to invest in U.S. defense, energy, and critical mineral supply chains.
JPMorgan Chase launched a 10-year, $1.5 trillion Security and Resilience Initiative to finance sectors vital to U.S. national security, infrastructure, and supply chain independence. The investment targets key industries including robotics, energy, defense, and critical minerals.
CEO Jamie Dimon stated that the United States has become too reliant on unreliable sources for manufacturing and critical minerals essential to national security. The funding aims to reduce this dependence and strengthen domestic production capabilities.
The initiative is expected to provide a structural tailwind for major defense contractors. Shipbuilders General Dynamics and Huntington Ingalls Industries, which maintain a duopoly for U.S. Navy nuclear-powered ships, are positioned to use the investment to resolve supply chain bottlenecks and convert large order backlogs into revenue.
