OpenAI Acquires NextSlide to Integrate Presentation Tools into ChatGPT

OpenAI acquired NextSlide, a startup founded in mid-2025 that specializes in converting fragmented documents and notes into editable slide decks. Ahmed Beshry, co-founder of NextSlide, announced the deal and confirmed that his team has joined OpenAI to assist in the development of ChatGPT.

This acquisition is part of a larger strategy by OpenAI to build an AI-native office suite, following the previous purchases of Statsig, io, Hiro, and Roi. The integration of presentation deliverables into the ChatGPT ecosystem is intended to shift white-collar productivity from manual slide creation toward critical thinking and human judgment.

The move positions OpenAI as a direct competitor to Microsoft PowerPoint, despite Microsoft being the company's largest financial backer. This competitive tension has already attracted scrutiny from regulators in the United Kingdom and the European Union. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
