While Democrats emphasize environmental conservation, Republicans focus on the protection of private property and farmland. Both parties have criticized corporate tax breaks and the influence of billionaire interests. This grassroots backlash has already influenced policy, with governors in Texas and Pennsylvania delaying or blocking the construction of new data centers.
Opposing this trend, the AI-backed super PAC Public First Action promotes the technology as a necessity for national security and American competitiveness. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has pushed back against AI concerns by launching a meme campaign to combat what it characterizes as AI doomerism.
