Asim Munir Vows to Crush Cross-Border Terrorism

Field Marshal Asim Munir vowed to use the full might of the state to eliminate cross-border terrorism following a wave of attacks in Balochistan.

Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, vowed on July 8, 2026, to crush cross-border terrorism using the "full might of the state." Speaking at the National Defence University in Islamabad, Munir warned that the armed forces remain alert to state-sponsored attempts by hostile intelligence agencies to destabilize Pakistan and pledged to dismantle proxy sanctuaries and their facilitators.

The address followed a surge of violence in Balochistan between July 5 and July 8. Attacks in Quetta, Ziarat, and Bela targeted police posts and an army convoy. Official reports state the assaults resulted in the deaths of 27 policemen, 11 security personnel, and four civilians.

In response to the incursions, Pakistani security forces conducted operations that killed 54 terrorists. Munir emphasized that addressing the evolving nature of warfare, including hybrid and sub-conventional threats, requires strategic clarity and institutional professionalism.
