Kyocera Raises Sales Forecast as AI Demand Boosts Profits
Kyocera Corp. reported a 56.4% increase in operating profit driven by strong demand for AI data center and network infrastructure components.
Kyocera Corp. reported a 56.4% year-on-year increase in operating profit to 65.61 billion yen for the six months ending in September. The Japanese chip component maker attributed the growth to robust demand for high value-added products, specifically capacitors and semiconductor packages used in network infrastructure and AI data centers.
During this period, sales revenue rose 8.8% to 86.95 billion yen, while net profit increased 32.2% to 55.54 billion yen. These gains occurred despite weaker revenue in the office document equipment solutions unit, which followed the transfer of a subsidiary in the United States.
Kyocera raised its annual sales revenue forecast to 2.12 trillion yen from a previous estimate of 2.08 trillion yen. The company maintained its annual operating profit forecast at 160 billion yen, citing AI-fueled demand as a primary driver amid global economic uncertainty.
