Reform UK MP Claims Small Boat Migrants Are Wealthy

Reform UK MP Danny Kruger stated at the Big Brue festival in Bruton, Somerset, that asylum seekers arriving in the UK via small boats are wealthy men who do not deserve state assistance. Kruger argued that the ability to pay people smugglers thousands of pounds indicates wealth relative to those he considers deserving of taxpayer compassion.

During the event, Kruger defended previous remarks by Reform politician Matt Goodwin, who described some immigrants as drug-dealing goat-herders, asserting that such descriptions are factual. He further warned that current multicultural policies could lead to civil war and expressed concern over an alienated generation of second- and third-generation migrants.

The Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants rejected these claims, noting that most asylum seekers live in destitution. Green Party deputy leader Rachel Millward also criticized the statements, accusing Reform UK of stoking hatred against vulnerable people fleeing war and famine.
