Six Drones Target U.S. Assets in Erbil

Six drones targeted the U.S. Consulate and the international coalition base near Erbil International Airport in the capital of Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region on Friday morning, July 24, 2026.

Local security forces from the Government of Iraq shot down five of the drones near the airport. A sixth drone crashed in a nearby agricultural area, sparking a fire in crops and grass that required intervention from civil defense teams.
