Sudanese Army Drone Strike Kills 35 in North Darfur

The Sudanese Armed Forces launched a drone strike on Sunday afternoon targeting a traditional civil court session in the village of Al Zawiya Ghara, North Darfur. The attack killed at least 35 people, including civilians attending community dispute hearings, four tribal leaders, and two commanders of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Al Zawiya Ghara is currently under RSF control. The strike took place during a three-year civil war between the Sudanese military and the RSF. The United Nations has reported that drone warfare has become the leading cause of civilian deaths across Sudan.

The Emergency Lawyers Group condemned the incident as a "grave violation of international humanitarian law," noting the targeting of civilian infrastructure and the increasing use of drones against gatherings. The Sudanese army has not commented on the strike.
