BC NDP Pledges Millions for Clean Energy and Climate

The British Columbia New Democratic Party announced a clean energy platform featuring millions in investments for heat pumps, electric vehicles, and youth climate jobs.

The British Columbia New Democratic Party announced a clean energy and climate platform on Tuesday, pledging significant annual investments if re-elected. The proposal includes $50 million per year for heat pump installations, $16 million annually to expand the electric vehicle charging network, and $4 million per year for the Youth Climate Corps.

Beyond funding, the party aims to eliminate methane emissions by 2035 and simplify regulations for balcony solar installations. BC NDP leader David Eby and Minister of State Brittny Anderson framed the election as a choice between their growth-oriented environmental strategy and the BC Conservatives.

Eby claimed the opposition would reverse efforts to reduce emissions, while Anderson argued that a Conservative government would lead to environmental and economic decline by rolling back existing progress.
