China's AI Sector Hits 1.2 Trillion Yuan Amid Growth Drive

The Government of China is accelerating industrial transformation through the AI Plus initiative and 15th Five-Year Plan as the AI sector exceeds 1.2 trillion yuan.

The Government of China is driving a large-scale industrial transformation via the AI Plus initiative and the 15th Five-Year Plan for 2026-2030. This state-led effort has propelled the core artificial intelligence sector to exceed 1.2 trillion yuan in 2025, with the industry now comprising more than 6,200 companies.

Technological adoption has expanded across several sectors. iFlytek has provided AI-driven education tools to over 50,000 schools, while EACON Mining Technology Co., Ltd. has deployed autonomous-driving systems in more than 40 mines. In the manufacturing sector, TBEA Shenyang Transformer Group Co., Ltd. used virtual simulation systems to cut product development cycles by 21 percent. Embodied AI is also scaling rapidly; AgiBot delivered its 15,000th robot to a Shanghai factory on June 28.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology projects that humanoid robot production will surpass 100,000 units this year. To showcase these advancements and foster international cooperation, Shanghai will host the 2026 World AI Conference and the High-level Meeting on Global AI Governance from July 17 to 20, featuring 3,000 products from over 1,100 enterprises.
