Missouri and Kansas Set Voter Registration Deadlines for Midterms
Missouri and Kansas officials have announced voter registration deadlines for the November 3 midterm elections, with Missouri's online and office deadline falling on October 7.
Voter registration deadlines are approaching for the November 3 midterm and general elections in Missouri and Kansas. In Missouri, the final day for residents to register via the Secretary of State's website, DMV offices, or county clerk offices is October 7. In Kansas, the registration deadline is Tuesday, October 13, with options to register online or at city and county clerk offices.
Charlie Davis, the Jasper County Clerk in Missouri, noted that registration can be completed in person at offices in Carthage and Joplin. Missouri's no-excuse in-person absentee voting begins October 20, while Kansas begins early in-person voting on the same date. Absentee voting in Jasper County began September 22.
The November ballot in Missouri includes congressional and state legislative seats, the State Auditor position, and several constitutional amendments. Springfield voters will specifically decide on four City Charter questions. In Jasper County, the ballot features four constitutional amendments and two judicial confirmations.
A redistricting proposition also appears on the ballot following a legal dispute between the advocacy group People Not Politicians and Secretary of State Jay Moxley. While Moxley initially declared the proposition unconstitutional, the Missouri Supreme Court declared the 2023 map illegal. The Supreme Court of the United States ultimately upheld the decision to hold the election using the 2022 redistricting map.
